The city of Washington is hosting its fall clean-up at the Yard Waste Center and wastewater treatment plant this Saturday.
City residents should bring their ID or a copy of their utility bill and are asked to stay in their vehicles. They can get rid of general waste free of charge that can be placed in cardboard boxes and bulky furniture like sofas, mattresses, box springs and recliners. Appliances require a $ 5 fee, and electronics are free, with the exception of tube TVs and tube computer monitors, which require a $ 15 fee. Lawn mowers and equipment should be free of gasoline and oil for disposal.
The city will not accept household garbage and hazardous waste, hazardous materials including explosives, drugs and materials soaked in volatile chemicals; used tires and oils; Construction materials; concrete, brick and rock; and latex paint. Cleaning is scheduled for Saturday from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. Cash or stickers will only be accepted on site for appliances and televisions, and you can purchase stickers at the town hall. Those unable to bring items such as appliances or televisions to the site can schedule a pickup for an additional charge of $ 5 per item.
