Vaccination not compulsory to take the exam; The consortium asked to follow security protocols

The SC today asked the NLU consortium to conduct the CLAT 2021 review under strict COVID security measures. The CLAT exam will take place in offline mode on July 23.

NEW DELHI: The NLU Consortium, when announcing the date of the CLAT 2021 exam on June 14, advised candidates to get vaccinated before taking the exam. This had created some confusion among the student fraternity as they tried to figure out what would happen if an unvaccinated candidate arrived at the exam center: will she be allowed to take the test or not, or will she be allowed to take the test. -it simply placed in an isolated room for the test.

In addition, some candidates were under 18, which prevented them from getting vaccinated.

The SC ended speculation on the matter today by urging examining authorities not to insist that students get vaccinated against COVID-19.

What does this verdict mean?

  1. The consortium, which organizes the CLAT exam, can no longer prohibit candidates from taking the CLAT 2021, whether the candidate is vaccinated or not.

  2. The SC has entrusted the consortium with the responsibility of ensuring the safety of the candidates. The Supreme Court also ordered the consortium to take all security measures and conduct the review in accordance with COVID protocols.

  3. The candidate can decide for himself whether he wants to be vaccinated or not and this will not affect his ability to take the CLAT 2021 exam.

The consortium previously released the CLAT 2021 review guidelines, including the COVID-19 guidelines.

Summary of CLAT Exam Guidelines:

  • Applicants must wear masks at all times and carry hand sanitizers

  • Electronic gadgets and watches, with the exception of analogue watches, are not permitted inside the examination room.

  • The candidate must arrive at the examination center at least one hour before the exam takes place. Those who arrive 15 minutes after the start of the exam will not be allowed to take the exam.

  • Any professional misconduct of any kind will be legally punished and the candidate will be disqualified.

  • The candidate must present an admission card and photo ID to take the exam.

  • Luggage counter: No provision of the luggage counter is to be expected and candidates will be solely responsible for the safekeeping of their personal effects.

The SC in the same judgment also refused to postpone the CLAT 2021 exam. Instead, it asked the consortium to organize the national-level exam in the examination centers with strict security measures. The CLAT 2021 is scheduled for July 23 in paper-and-pencil mode. The CLAT 2021 admission card has been released and can be downloaded by registered applicants.
