Logansport predicts power outages for some blocks Thursday morning

September 29 – Logansport Municipal Utilities predicts power outages starting Thursday around 8 a.m. for Logansport homes east of Western Avenue between West Wabash Avenue and Lockwood Street.

LMU’s electrical department will make improvements to the system, including the replacement of damaged poles. The project is expected to be completed by early afternoon, according to an announcement from LMU.

Homes that will experience sporadic breakdowns will be in the following areas:

—Wabash Avenue from Western Avenue to Lockwood Street.

—Lockwood from West Wabash to Helm Street.

—The west side of Seybold Street from Wabash to Melbourne Street.

For safety and convenience reasons during outages, LMU advises residents to prepare by doing the following:

– Make plans for the use of any medical equipment requiring electricity.

– Recharge cell phones.

—Unplug computers, televisions, and sensitive electronics.

—Notify your home security company.

– Plan to operate garage doors and electric gates manually.

—Reduce the opening of refrigerator and freezer doors during blackouts.

—Turn off all heat producing appliances (stoves, toasters, irons, hair rollers, etc.)

System improvements will increase the reliability of electrical service and reduce emergency power outages, LMU said.

Teams will work quickly and safely to restore power as soon as possible.
