Prayagraj: The ‘smart city’ of Prayagraj would soon boast a state-of-the-art multi-purpose cultural complex (auditorium) of Rs 32 crore with a total capacity of 1,500 people, dedicated parking and other modern amenities.
In preparation within the framework of the Smart City project, the authorities of the Prayagraj Development Authority (PDA) launched the call for tenders for the construction of the auditorium, which would be built near the Pravesh Bhawan of the University of Allahabad. .
“As part of our efforts to provide first-class facilities in the smart city of Prayagraj, this new state-of-the-art multicultural complex is being built at an estimated cost of around Rs 32 crores. Once ready, it will be able to host various cultural, social and academic events in addition to exhibitions. It will have all modern conveniences, including a green room and its own parking lot. Solar panels will also be installed on the roof, ”said Divisional Commissioner Sanjay Goyal, who is also the chairman of the Prayagraj Smart City Board.
Giving details of this ambitious project, PDA chief engineer Manoj Mishra told TOI on Thursday: “The fully centralized and air-conditioned auditorium would span an overall area of ​​12,000 square meters with a built-up area of ‘approximately 2,500 square meters. The seating arrangement will be distributed over two floors, the ground floor will have around 900 seats while the first floor (balcony) will have 600 seats. In addition, the basement would have parking for over 250 vehicles as well as open parking for VVIPs.
The official added that there would be two “green rooms” in the auditorium, one for male and female users.
“The multi-purpose cultural complex would also have an open theater with a capacity of around 300 people. Along with this, there would be two conference rooms, each accommodating 250 people. The complex would also have two exhibition halls to host different exhibitions in the city, ”Mishra said.
The main stage of the complex would also be huge, spread over an area of ​​around 200 square meters and there would be a fully digital backup for electronic gadgets to be used for any function. The lighting system will be suitable for normal conferences, theater and theatrical performances. The sound system, side screens, screens, overhead projectors, etc., would also be in place along with other state-of-the-art facilities provided in the complex.
Once completed, the complex would be used for all government and semi-government functions and events. While it is not yet decided who will maintain the complex, sources have said that a trust with a significant portion of AU representation will be formed for this purpose.
