Texas Instruments Incorporated (TXN Free Report) is expected to release its fourth quarter 2021 results on January 25.

For the fourth quarter of 2021, the company expects revenue of between $4.22 billion and $4.58 billion. Zacks’ consensus estimate for the same is pegged at $4.44 billion, suggesting an 8.9% growth from the figure reported a year ago.

The company expects earnings of $1.83 to $2.07 per share for the fourth quarter.

The consensus mark for the same is set at $1.95 per share, indicating an improvement of 8.3% over the figure reported the previous year. The figure has remained unchanged for the past 30 days.

The company has exceeded Zacks’ consensus estimate for the past four quarters, generating a surprise profit of 16.8% on average.

Factors to consider

The strength of Texas Instruments’ product portfolio and expanding manufacturing capabilities should be reflected in its upcoming quarterly results.

Strengthening momentum in the analog and embedded processing segments likely contributed to Texas Instrument’s performance in the fourth quarter.

The company’s robust signal chain and power product lines are expected to have continued to contribute to analog segment revenue growth in the quarter under discussion.

The upward trend in personal electronics, due to the growing demand for electronic gadgets for remote work, learning and entertainment amid the ongoing pandemic, is likely to have led to a growth in the company’s revenue generated from the personal electronics market in the forthcoming quarter.

The continued rebound in the auto industry should have been a tailwind in the fourth quarter.

Solid momentum across key sectors should have continued to support the company’s performance in the industrial market during the quarter under review.

The company’s significant investments in growth paths and competitive advantages should have been positive.

Texas Instrument’s continued returns to shareholders should have acted as tailwinds. Its deepening aimed at accelerating the generation of free cash flow was probably another positive element. The impacts of all of these factors should be reflected in the company’s fourth quarter results.

However, uncertainties related to the coronavirus pandemic should have weighed on TXN during the quarter under review. In addition, the smoothness in space of the communication equipment should have been of concern.

Chinese electric vehicles find a niche to make short-haul deliveries in Japan https://jvc-europe.com/chinese-electric-vehicles-find-a-niche-to-make-short-haul-deliveries-in-japan/ Tue, 18 Jan 2022 16:00:00 +0000 https://jvc-europe.com/chinese-electric-vehicles-find-a-niche-to-make-short-haul-deliveries-in-japan/

Logistics firms in Japan, scrambling to cut costs and make the most of the pandemic-inspired online shopping boom, are finding an unlikely white knight in Chinese electric vehicle makers, whose pickup trucks are making deliveries last mile not only cheaper, but also cleaner.

Tokyo-based SBS Holdings Inc., a publicly traded logistics company that offers deliveries, recently struck a deal to buy 2,000 electric light trucks over five years from Japanese start-up folofly. The cars will be made by a unit of Dongfeng Motor Group Co. as well as other Chinese automakers. Sagawa Express Co., meanwhile, will use 7,200 low-cost electric minivans made by Guangxi Automobile Group Co.

“Japanese electric vehicles do not cover our costs,” said SBS Holdings Chairman Masahiko Kamata. “Japanese automakers say it’s impossible to lower prices, so we had to buy cheaper vehicles. We cannot ask our customers to accept higher rates just because we have more expensive trucks.

Like most places around the world, online commerce has exploded in Japan during COVID as people order everything from food to clothes and electronic gadgets right to their doorstep. These increased sales increase the carbon footprint of logistics companies. Yet Japan has pledged to reduce its emissions by almost 50% from 2013 levels by 2030. To achieve this goal, 90% of vehicles sold in the country that year will have to be battery electric. , according to McKinsey & Co.

SBS plans to eventually have a fleet of some 10,000 commercial electric vans that it can use for e-commerce deliveries. The small trucks can travel around 200 kilometers on a single charge and cost around 3.8 million yen ($33,000).

“Range is not a big issue for last-mile deliveries,” said Akira Miyahara, a manager at SBS Sokuhai Support, the rapid delivery unit of SBS Holdings. Although there is a question mark on the performance of Chinese vehicles after three or four years, for now, after 12 hours at night on the charger, there is no problem.

Although Japan isn’t currently a huge market for EVs – EV penetration is just 1% compared to 30% in some cities in China – Chinese automakers sense an opportunity. BYD Co., which counts Warren Buffett among its backers, already controls about 70% of Japan’s pure electric bus market and aims to have 4,000 such buses on the road in the country by 2030.

Cheaper in China

“Japan is well established in the automotive industry due to its reputation as a quality-driven market, so entering the Japanese market is an important step,” a Shenzhen-based BYD spokesperson said. “BYD Japan will continue to promote transportation electrification to accelerate the achievement of carbon neutrality.”

Dongfeng Motor representatives did not respond to requests for comment. Guangxi Automobile said its deal would “accelerate the development of Japan’s new energy micro-logistics market.”

Thanks to Chinese government incentives and subsidies, the average price of electric cars has fallen in the world’s largest car market, while it has risen in Europe and the United States. that Chinese consumers can buy an all-new electric vehicle for as little as $4,200. The price in Europe climbs to at least $17,880 and again to $28,170 in the United States

“If Japanese automakers do nothing, China will take over the industry,” said Kamata of SBS Holdings.

According to Tu Le, general manager of Sino Auto Insights, it is difficult for logistics companies to be both patriotic and profitable.

“These delivery companies are in a really tough spot because they have a mandate to clean their vehicles, but they are beholden to shareholders to be a profitable and healthy company,” he said.

It’s not just Chinese companies that are getting into it. Cenntro Electric Group Ltd., an American manufacturer of commercial electric vehicles, received approval in November to sell light trucks in Japan, and its vans will be used by Amazon Fleet, the local subsidiary of Amazon.com Inc. partner of delivery, and Hana Cupid, Japan’s largest floral gift association.

Cenntro CEO Peter Wang sees a bright future for home delivery in the country due to the aging of Japanese society. The company is even planning an assembly plant, potentially in Fukushima, to locally produce electric vehicles and export some to Southeast Asia, he said.

“Electric vehicles are still a cheaper option than hydrogen” for light trucks, Wang said, referring to the fact that Toyota Motor Corp., for example, is also exploring hydrogen as a future fuel for clean cars. “They are practical, easy to use, easy to repair, easy to load. I’ve spoken to many fleet managers in Japan and they haven’t found the right vehicle to do this.

Some observers fear that Japan’s nascent electric car industry is facing a crisis similar to the one that hit its home appliance sector. After dominating the world in the 1980s and 1990s, brands like Panasonic, Sony, Toshiba and Sharp lost out to cheaper Chinese alternatives.

“If Japanese companies stick to producing cars, foreign companies will come,” said Hiroyasu Koma, CEO of folofly, the company working with SBS and Dongfeng Motor on the first-generation fleet electrification strategy. .

China has been working to create an entire infrastructure around electric vehicles, including investing in Contemporary Amperex Technology Co. Ltd. — now the world’s largest maker of electric vehicle batteries — as a national strategy, Koma said.

According to Carnorama analyst Takeshi Miyao, Toyota, the world’s largest automaker, still has the ability to turn things around, especially if it focuses on making high-performance solid-state batteries. “Chinese electric vehicle makers are at the forefront when it comes to price, but you never know if they will still be leaders three years from now,” he said.

And Japanese truck manufacturers are starting to fight back. Isuzu Motors Ltd. will begin mass-producing electric trucks in 2022 while Toyota’s Hino Motors Ltd. plans to sell the Dutro Z mini EV early this summer. Logistics company Yamato Holdings Co. will use two Hino electric vehicles until May and track how CO2 emissions are reduced.

But with Japanese electric trucks expected to cost about three times as much as diesel trucks, logistics companies may struggle to buy them, according to Kamata.

Thirteen simple tips for breaking up with your phone this month https://jvc-europe.com/thirteen-simple-tips-for-breaking-up-with-your-phone-this-month/ Sun, 16 Jan 2022 22:57:00 +0000 https://jvc-europe.com/thirteen-simple-tips-for-breaking-up-with-your-phone-this-month/

Never mind Veganuary and Dry January. . . it’s time for a digital detox.

We’re more addicted to our phones than ever, according to new figures, spending an average of four hours a day staring at their screens.

That’s a one-third increase since 2019.

In addition to “technical neck” and repetitive strain injuries, research suggests that digital overload can increase anxiety, damage eyesight, and make us more vulnerable to cybercrime.

But there are ways to reduce your addiction.

Kate Jackson shares some simple tips to help you hang back for a while. . .

make it less attractive

By switching the display mode to “grayscale” you are effectively switching from color to an old fashioned black and white.

Dull icons will be less appealing, and notifications that are usually red will lose their urgency.

On iPhones, go to “Accessibility Settings/Display” and “Text Size/Color Filters”.

A study from the University of North Dakota in the US found that students spent 40 minutes less on their phones after making the switch.

Rearrange your apps

Try moving social media apps from the home screen to another page.

Psychotherapist Hilda Burke, author of The Phone Addiction Workbook, says, “When something is very accessible to us, we may find ourselves clicking on something without even thinking about it.

Ditch automatic connections

How often would you use Facebook or Instagram if you had to enter your details very quickly?

Removing social media details from your history will make it less appealing.

Marie Kondo that’s it!

The decluttering guru urges us to keep only the items that bring us joy and toss the rest. Do the same on your phone with the apps that make you happy.

Get him out of bed…

Ban phones from the bedroom. Use an old fashioned alarm clock.

… or out of reach

Bill Stirling is the founder of Tech-Break, a tool to keep gadgets locked away for a set amount of time.

He says, “Keeping your device out of reach will help you break the habit of mindlessly checking notifications or browsing social media. The physical act of having to get up to retrieve your phone gives you a split second to reconsider.

Using an old-fashioned alarm clock instead of your phone is a good way to keep it out of the bedroom.

Have a trial separation

Like a bad relationship, a little time apart can help you reassess yourself.

Catherine Price, author of How To Break Up With Your Phone, recommends a 24-hour trial separation. You’ll realize how often you normally reach for your phone – and remember how much fun you can have without it.

Set a mental “speed bump”

Catherine’s program also recommends setting up a “speed bump” to force you to think before engaging with your phone.

Writer Kevin Roose put a rubber band around his device and changed his lock screen to display three questions: “Why?” “Why now?” and what else?”

You can put it on a piece of paper under the rubber band.

Go old fashioned

Before we became so dependent on our phones for everything, we used to write down lists on paper.

Get a calendar to jot down plans and reminders, start writing your shopping list on a notepad, and choose real books over electronic versions. All of this helps reduce screen time.

Define a scrollable window

If you find yourself constantly reaching for your phone, set specific times of the day when you’re allowed a few minutes of screen time.

Psychologist Niels Eek, co-founder of mental health platform Remente, says, “Giving yourself a ten-minute window a few times a day to catch up on news and notifications might be a good approach to cutting down your time. everyday screen. ”

Keep an eye on your time

You can find out how much time you spend on your phone in “Settings”.
If the amount horrifies you, try slowly reducing it.

You can start by cutting it by 20 minutes a day or challenge yourself to cut it in half over the course of a week.

You can set time limits on your phone, not only for total screen time, but also for individual apps.

Leave him alone

Do not use your phone during meals, even if you are alone.

And don’t take it with you into the bathroom.

Research shows that countless germs are spread up to 6 feet around a bathroom from a single flush with the lid open. Now think about those germs on your phone, which you place next to your face. . .

Phone a friend

Do you remember the last time you spoke to someone in person, instead of emailing them, texting them, contacting them on WhatsApp, or sending them a few likes? on Facebook or Instagram?

Instead of getting frustrated with predictive text or getting stuck in a ten-minute chat thread, why not spend that time talking to them and hearing their voices?

A study from the University of Texas found that people feel more connected when talking on the phone, rather than messaging.

Get a puzzle book

Many of us turn to our phones for a few minutes of distraction with a game or a puzzle.

Instead, get a puzzle book and stretch those gray cells using it.

Likewise, a good night’s sleep is about as important as regular exercise and a good eating routine.
Research shows that Vulnerable Rest has quick antagonistic results on your synthetics, practice execution, and frontal cortex work. It can also stimulate weight growth and increase the risk of infection in adults and children.
Interestingly, plenty of rest can help you eat less, train better, and look better. In recent years, the quality and quantity of rest has declined.
Here are some tips for an amazing sleep schedule:

1. Increase the aperture of bright light during the day
Your body creates normal memories by keeping the clock known as the circadian rhythm. It influences your brain, body, and chemicals, helping you stay alert and letting your body know when it’s the perfect time to rest.
Normal daylight or bright light during the day helps keep your circadian musicality strong. It also produces energy during the day, as does the quality and duration of sleep at night.

2. Decrease blue light aperture in the evening
Opening to light during the day is beneficial, however, opening to light at night has the opposite effect.
Again, it’s because of its impact on your circadian rhythm, tricking your mind into thinking it’s still daylight. This decreases chemicals like melatonin, which help you relax and get deep rest.
Blue light, which electronic gadgets like cell phones and PCs emit in huge amounts, is most visibly terrible in this way.

3. Try not to consume caffeine at the end of the day
Caffeine has various benefits and is consumed by 90% of the American population. A solo piece can improve concentration, energy, and athletic execution. However, when consumed late in the day, caffeine revitalizes your sensory system and can prevent your body from moving normally towards the evening. In one review, binging on caffeine as long as 6 hours before bed fundamentally deteriorated the quality of rest.
Caffeine can stay high in your blood for 6-8 hours. In this way, it is not advisable to drink many espressos later between 3 and 4 p.m., especially assuming that you are sensitive to caffeine or find it difficult to rest.

8 awesome gadgets for your tiny home https://jvc-europe.com/8-awesome-gadgets-for-your-tiny-home/ Tue, 11 Jan 2022 17:00:00 +0000 https://jvc-europe.com/8-awesome-gadgets-for-your-tiny-home/

No matter how organized you are, living in a small space comes with its challenges. For starters, there isn’t as much room to store your things. You are forced to forgo the conveniences of household appliances (like your dishwasher or coffee machine) and live a minimalist lifestyle.

Fortunately times have changed. Smaller appliances are now available thanks to advancements in modern technology and the growing popularity of mini-houses. But if you don’t know what to buy to keep your limited living space functional, take a look at these cool gadgets that will fit right into your humble abode.

1. Cordless hand-held vacuum cleaner

The only advantage of living in a small house? There is a smaller area to clean. But that doesn’t mean cleaning products don’t deserve a place in your home. After all, you always have to deal with dirt, especially when guests come.

That said, it’s handy to have cleaning tools that don’t take up too much space in your living room, like a compact cordless hand vacuum. These mini vacuums can’t deep clean your home like the big ones, but they’re good enough at quickly removing crumbs from countertops and pet hair from your sofa.

The best hand vacuums have powerful batteries that can pick up more debris and run longer. Other model innovations include washable filters, various accessories, easy-to-empty dust containers, and wall-mounted designs for flexible storage.

2. Multicooker

When working in a compact kitchen, it makes more sense to have fewer kitchen appliances to save countertop space. This is why having a multicooker is a must.

With a multicooker, you can simmer, roast, pressure cook and boil everything in the same device. Newer models even come with extra features, from air frying to making yogurt. This makes it easier for you to prepare a multitude of healthy meals, such as steamed vegetables, oatmeal, dumplings and yogurt.

The best part is, you don’t have to worry about burning your meal. All you have to do is add the ingredients to the multicooker, press the corresponding button, and sit down while the appliance takes care of the rest.

3. Portable coffee maker

Wacaco minipresso next to coffee beans

Don’t want to use up your precious counter space for a full-size coffee machine, but can’t function properly without a shot of caffeine? Instead, get a portable coffee maker.

This ingenious product can brew your cup of coffee with just the push of a button. It doesn’t take up much space and fits easily in a drawer. You can even take it with you to bed, to your home office, or just about anywhere. Just put it in your bag and brew yourself a fine cup of coffee, even on the go.

4. Hand steamer

A handheld steamer is an ideal solution for people who attend business meetings often but don’t have the space to set up a full-size ironing station. It’s designed to quickly straighten clothes on the hanger without the need for that bulky ironing board, making it a great way to keep your clothes fresh and wrinkle-free.

When it comes to clothes made from delicate fabrics like suit jackets and silk blouses, a handheld steamer is a definite plus. And since it’s so portable and lightweight, you can easily use it around the home to refresh pillow shams, drapes, and more.

5. Smart display

It’s good to have a good cookbook lying around in the kitchen, especially since it’s inconvenient to watch YouTube tutorials while cooking (you don’t want to repeatedly touch your phone with your fingers. messy hands). However, cookbooks tend to take up valuable counter space that could have been used for other important kitchen appliances.

This is where a smart display comes in handy. Besides answering virtually anything you ask, this nifty device can walk you through a hands-free recipe. All you have to do is say a few voice commands, and it’ll tell you exactly what you need to do to make your favorite baked salmon dish.

Smart displays are also a great alternative to traditional photo frames as they can display photos for you as well. You won’t have to clutter your space with 20 frames just to fit your whole family.

6. Portable mixer

Breakfast smoothies don’t have to be a thing of the past just because you have a small kitchen. In cases like this, a portable blender is a lifeline. This compact device will not only save you cupboard space, but it will also save you time as it is designed for on-the-go mixing.

It’s also easier and faster to use, thanks to its unique speed and one-button operation. And while a portable blender might not be as powerful as a full-size, it can still make an equally tasty cup of protein shake.

For many book fans, nothing can replace the smell of fresh ink on paper. But it’s no secret that books can take up a lot of space in your tiny home, especially if you’re one of those who love to collect them. With portable e-readers, you’ll never have to worry about running out of space for your new books again.

Like having a digital library of all your favorite readings, this smart gadget lets you carry and access millions of books in one place. Better yet, it takes up less space than a paperback.

If you don’t like reading on a screen, you’ll be happy to know that some models of e-readers come with an anti-glare screen that looks like paper. You will get the same experience as if you were reading a physical book, even under direct sunlight.

8. Portable projector

So you want to watch movies and TV shows on something bigger than your phone, but you don’t have enough room to house a large TV? What you need is a portable projector.

This device comes in compact form factors that can be easily converted into full-scale entertainment. It works well with massive screens that are folded or unrolled after use, compared to TVs that take up valuable space in your small studio even when turned off.

The best part is you can find portable projectors with surround speakers and headphone jacks. This makes them perfect for solo frenzy lovers and movie buffs who want to throw movie nights with friends or family.

The stance of the Ioniq 5 may not look like an SUV or a crossover, it looks more like a raised hatch because it is very low to the ground, but in terms of dimensions it is quite tall with its wheelbase of 118, 1 inches, 182.5 inches in total length, 74.4 inches in width and 63 inches in height. On the road, the Ioniq 5 attracts a ton of attention because of its quirky styling. Up front, what draws the most attention are the LED pixel headlights, which are standard across the range. The silver accents on the bumper pair well with the contrasting colors. Since this is an EV, there are no openings in the grille instead of an IC car. However, the traditional grill is expected to house sensors, cameras, and other radar systems.

The first thing you notice on the side are the big alloy rims; Hyundai claims these are the largest alloys ever fitted to its 20 ” production car. Other notable items on the side are the door handles, which stay flush with the car body and pop out once the vehicle is unlocked. Since the Ioniq 5 is a crossover, it has body coating all around but has a silver finish instead of just being left in black like most crossovers. The mirrors have built-in LED indicators with cameras and sensors, as the Ioniq 5 has a 360-degree parking camera.

At the rear, the pixel design continues, and most notable is the section of the taillight that runs across the width of the car. The whole LED pixel bar lights up, but it has everything you’d expect of it. Turn signals, reversing lights, parking lights and more are easily visible when turned on. As this is an electric vehicle, there are no visible exhaust tips. The sensors and cameras are neatly stored in the panels, as is the front end.

One of the main talking points about the Ioniq 5 is its “Vehicle to Load” feature. This means that it allows the consumer to charge, power and use any electrical device freely using the Ioniq 5 as a battery. This feature can power e-bikes, scooters, and a fair amount of camping gear. This function can also be used when the vehicle is switched off. The V2L function is also exercised inside the car. Underneath the second row of seats there is a 3.6 kWh power supply that can power electronic gadgets, although the functionality inside can only be used when the vehicle is on.

The E-GMP platform on which the Ioniq 5 is based frees up a lot of space in the passenger compartment. The vehicle has a docking function that slides the driver’s seat back when unlocked, making entry and exit easier. Once inside, the two 12 ” screens do not go unnoticed as they are perfectly placed in the driver’s field of vision. These screens, like any other vehicle, control a lot of things in the car like navigation, EV data, state of charge and others. What’s worth noting is that there are Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, but it’s not wireless. The car also has heated and ventilated seats and a heated steering wheel. The corresponding controls are housed in the 12-inch screen; there is dual zone air conditioning with dedicated physical buttons.

Other things to mention inside the Ioniq 5 are the electronically adjustable rear seats that slide back and forth 135mm, and an optional panoramic sunroof. There is extensive use of environmentally friendly and recycled materials throughout the cabin with fabrics, leather and even paint used inside.

The standard rear-mounted battery gives the Ioniq 5 nearly 168 HP and 0-60 mph in 7.4 seconds. The AWD version is much more powerful at 305 HP and does 0 to 60 mph in 5.2 seconds. The maximum speed of the Ioniq 5 is 115 mph. All the finishes of the Ioniq 5 are well thought out, you can get the long autonomy battery (77.4 Kwh) with 2WD and AWD, and the same goes for the standard 58 Kwh battery.

The Ioniq 5 has a remote park feature, adjustable regenerative braking levels and a HUD at the front of the technology. The iconic 5 is packed with all the modern safety features like Level 2 autonomous driving, a 360-degree camera and seven airbags. The 2022 Hyundai Ioniq 5 starts just north of the $ 40,000 mark for the SE RWD model and goes all the way up to $ 55,725 for the high-end Limited AWD variant. There are six variants of the Ioniq 5 to choose from, mainly divided into SE, SEL and the limited version, and all versions have a RWD and AWD option. All this before the federal tax credit of $ 7,500 or any other incentive. It’s a good product if you want a car that stands out while being environmentally conscious.

When Hyundai unveiled the production version of the Ioniq 5, people around the world were talking about how it looked and how much tech it had to offer. It’s fair to say that the Ioniq 5 has met and even exceeded the expectations of many people. It turns heads and offers a ton of space inside, as well as a lot of comfort. In addition, it drives well and offers a lot of practicality. In short, Hyundai has designed a seemingly perfect vehicle to meet the needs of most people in style.
