11 best kids phones in 2021: your top picks

the DOOGEE S96 Pro is a tank. I’ve been playing with this for a while now and am impressed with its durability.

One of the selling points of the S96 Pro is that it can survive a drop from 1.8 meters. I’m not used to throwing an exam phone on the floor, but for the sake of science I did. Seven times. And it’s still not a scratch. To say I’m blown away by the durability of this thing would be an understatement. It is by far the best rugged phone for kids. And believe me, my kids have used a few phones …

I don’t want to throw a load of tech at you (high-density macro-molecule coating!), But it’s the solid structure, along with the smart sealing technology and shock absorption that makes the S96 Pro so tanky.

The crazy thing with the S96 Pro is that at this point you’d be forgiven for expecting some downsides in the form of specs. This is simply not the case here, however.

On the power side, you’ve got 8GB of RAM, which means this thing loads and handles apps at blazing speed, and 128GB internal storage, which is a frankly obscene amount of space to fill. . Even after transferring all of my music, photos, and games, I only managed to fill up about 60GB.

Okay. Let’s talk about camera. Surely the camera is cheap in order to reduce the cost of the technology and the case? Nope! Here you have a Samsung 48MP camera, a Samsung 16MP selfie camera and – wait for it – a Sony night vision camera. Yes it has a night vision camera and it works great. Crazy, isn’t it?

Oh, and if that’s not enough, it can be used underwater at depths of 1.5 meters for up to 30 minutes, and yes, it does play Fortnite.

Not everyone will adopt the S96 Pro’s bulky design. It is heavy compared to other models of mobile phones. But given that this phone is a fraction of the price of recent iPhones and again packs more power than anyone could possibly need, it’s no surprise that this is one of the best kids phones. Even more if you’re worried about your kid breaking their new phone or want something that will last (and work) year after year.
